Tenaro

In the southernmost tip of mainland Greece is Tenaro, the gates of Hades, the place from which descended Hercules and Orpheus in the underworld. Where to find Cerberus guarding the gates though it was not as bad as the rumors say

Biking in Parnitha

Following the summer binge decided to first climb Mount Parnitha to welcome the new year! A different course after ascent would be on bikes.

The route starts from the third petal after parking lift in a mild elevation 550m dirt road through the forest. In the 5th km around the dirt becomes quite rocky, up to 5.5 where the source fueling the fire. From there begins and the first signs of the devastating fire of 2007. From the 6th km and after riding in the burnt and after 2 years still hear the creaking boughs and ready to fall. Attention to the downhill descent where you develop enough speed to this point and is likely the burnt twigs to get at the pedals or spokes. The dirt road ends sadly after nearly 11 km in Paliohori and then enter the tarmac for Bafi.

Folegandros - Folegandros

Folegandros

The island is the main island of the western Cyclades and thankfully still retains its wild beauty and the less touristic character even though it is obvious the gradual but steady commercialization (as happens in Amorgos).

Because of its location in the Aegean, and the other islands there, pull them over time
Panoramic of Chora

The island that the researchers believe was named by the king of Crete Folegandros, son of King Minos, who was the first who resided.

The rooms because of the small island, it is generally expensive and hard to find although it is possible to find cheap. The places where you can stay is Karavostasis (port), Chora, Ano Meria, the Meadow (camping) and a few there and Angali.

The town is built 200 meters above sea level and within the castle (although do not expect to see Walls)
Chora Chora
On the hill above the town is the church of the Assumption of Theotokou which party offers the best view of the country particularly the hours of sunset.
Sunset

The beach at Galley is perhaps the most brilliant and beautiful of Folegandros and wonder how an American tour guide had to include the best beaches in the world the beach at Agios Nikolaos and not this

Katergo
Those who resist or do not want to squeeze the boat let us choose the path of the Meadow (30-40 minutes). The bad thing is that the boat which then brings the "beaches" and who have a tendency to stick by your side, the beach fills up so tightly where the afternoon to remind you of some beach of Athens

In the path that goes alongside the sea, Agali to St. Nicholas and lasts about 30 minutes
Agali

Vorina Beach, one of the most beautiful but because of the bay in which you find, easily fills from algae, etc., but not easy because of the accessibility (40 minutes walking without a boat) is quite secluded and offers privacy
Vorina

Another beach that is worth Livadaki with its clear water and small white pebbles. Access for there is only either on foot or by donkey or boat. This photo was taken with one hand while trying to keep myself away in order not to fall from the crazy donkey while taking us to

Meteora - Meteora

Or how I went to Meteora twice in 30 days

Meteora or "suspended rocks" is a complex of monasteries in Greece built on spectacular natural sandstone rock pillars.

Ascetic places built around 11th century
meteora0111

Most of the people know Meteora because of the pillars, but the vegetation there is so vast that reminds of a tropical forest. The paths there are almost covered with the plants and it is not easy to trek
